Update on Hurricane Ike

Well, Ike skirted Florida and stuck to hitting Cuba and Haiti. They are still under water and will likely take a long time to recover. Haiti is one of the poorest countries as it is, this is devastating to them. Ike is now on target to hit Texas. Galveston and the Houston area are being evacuated. I don't know anyone specifically in that region, but I know we have churches in the area that we associate with.

The remnants of Ike are on target to circle round and hit Illinois and Indiana, in addition to several other states. I find it amusing that tropical storms can make their way so far into the country having not very much water to power them.

At any rate, please pray for the churches in these areas to be safe. Also pray that the residents do as asked and evacuate. And finally, that Ike will not pick up any more speed and do as minimal damage as possible. Enough flooding going on in the country already and even though some areas are in a drought stage, this isn't the kind of thing someone prays for to relieve it.
