Tuesday Funnies ~ Jess again

So Jess got a toddler bed and the crib went byebye. We weren't really sure how he was going to do without bars holding him in, so of course, the first night, mom was a little hesitant, but pleasantly surprised when he actually stayed there and slept most of the night. The second night went okay as well. So the other day, it was nap time and she put him in his bed and told him it was nighnight time. As she closes the door she hears Jess....."Mean....Mom....Mean....Mom....Mean....Mom".
She struggles not to laugh right then and there, but manages to walk away before letting the belly laugh take over.
Where do kids learn these things??

Have a good Tuesday!!

Tuesday Funnies ~ My Stepdad Mike

So, I couldn't resist posting about this because I just laughed so hard, I knew you all would think it was funny too.
My stepdad was down at his parents house helping out with a building project. That evening, he went to shower and clean up. My Grama has one of those Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower cleaning kits and my dad, not really awake at the time, decided it was soap and he'd use it. Then he heard the warning beeps.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP.
He realized when it started spraying in a circle for fifteen seconds, that it was soap alright, but not the kind he was looking for!!
Oh to have seen his face when he came back down the hall to tell everyone!

Hope you enjoy the laugh!

Tuesday Funnies 2/10/09

Well, I haven't posted a Tuesday Funny in awhile, but I have a good one this week.

I was talking to Laurie on the phone the other day and she was telling me stories about Kersten and Jess. Laurie and Fred have decided that as long as Jess isn't potty trained, they'll keep trying for one more baby. Well, Kersten, more than anything in the world, really wants a baby sister. The other day Jess was in the bathroom while she was going potty and copying his sissy. He is an imitator by nature at this age and pottying is no different. Kersten was telling mommy she didn't want Jess to be potty trained because if he was, she wouldn't get her baby sister. Mommy told her that she was the one that showed him how to potty. Kersten, 3.5 years old, respond with, "Well, that won't happen again!".

Can you believe her? Love the kid!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kersten

Friday night Kersten and I were snuggling on the couch when she turned around to look at me and say something. As she is breathing on me, I am cringing at the bad smell of her breath. I looked at Laurie and asked her if she was showing any signs of being sick. My mom could always tell when us kids were getting strep cause our breath would be really bad. The kid had just brushed her teeth too, so no reason for it.
So a few minutes later Kersten looks at me with her puppy dog eyes and says "My breath hurts."
I look over at Laurie to be sure I heard that correctly and we both bust out laughing.
The kid never fails to amuse me!
**************************
On Saturday, Lolo came over to scrapbook with Laurie and I. Kersten was all excited cause she was going to get to do her own page. Enter, the glue stick. For the next hour she had to do all the gluing for Mommy. She was planning to go outside to play after doing her page since that is where Jess was, but gluing was more fun. Going to have to make sure we hide the glue or we could be in trouble.
******************************
Pottytraining update: So Kersten is still having her off and on days, however, her accidents now are pretty much all potty. She does stay dry most nights thought. She goes poopoo in the toilet pretty much every time. Goofy kid just can't make up her mind to do both I guess. Mommy had set a goal of one week of no accidents and she'd get to pick out a toy. Well, apparently the concept of one week was too much for her to handle, she can make it about three days straight with no accidents and then somehow, oops. So Mommy set a goal of four days and she could wear her "Little Pony" underwear. Still on the three days and failure routine. However, the sticker incentive is going better, except that she won't choose any sticker that isn't pink(her favorite color if you didn't know). We have had to adjust the reward levels for going too.
Going potty = one sticker and a fruit snack
Going poopy = one sticker and an episode of Dora
Going both = two stickers, Dora, fruit snack and a sucker
Going dry all day = special "Princess" sticker on the calendar
4 dry days = get to wear "Little Pony" underwear

So yesterday while Mommy and Daddy went to their finance class, I was of course babysitting. Kersten had been taking a nap and I woke her up so she'd go to sleep later. Well upon waking, it is the rule to go potty, so I took her in and set her on the pot. I sat on the edge of the tub to wait. She leans over and sets her head on my lap and says she doesn't have to go. I said we needed to try and we would count to 60 and if she didn't go, we could leave. She didn't go. So we settle in on the couch to snuggle a bit cause she is still tired. Two minutes later she pops her head up, looks at me and shouts "I have to go poopy!" So we race to the bathroom and she did! YEAH!! She hasn't pooped for me before, so I gave her an extra treat. Of course Jess had to share in the fun too!
Ah, the joys of potty-training!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Random

Jess was standing on one of the kitchen chairs to try to crawl on the table. Something he loves to do on a regular basis. Josh was trying to set the table for supper, so he put him on the floor so he wouldn't be in the way. Jess was not amused and started to throw a fit. Josh looked at him and said "Use your words." This is something we are constantly telling him cause he always just screams. So Jess looks at Josh and says "NO!!" and slaps him on the leg.
Guess he told him!!
******************************
Joey was sitting in the living room on the couch watching TV the other night and had his feet resting on Kersten's princess chair. Jess walks in and wanted to sit in the chair. He looks at Joey and says "MOVE!"
I think he has the use of words well in control..............even if it is only one at a time!
*******************************
I was changing Jess' diaper the other day. The boy poops more than anyone I know, but this one was especially pungent. I have told him on many occasions that he is supposed to save these icky ones for those nice people in the church nursery to deal with. He looks up at me with a big ole grin on his face and laughs. HAHA, joke is on me I guess!
*******************************
I was walking with my friend Dorothea to Caribou the other day and she was telling a story. Dorothea ALWAYS has stories!
Anyway, her son Chuck is in the 5th grade and has massive amounts of homework, so she or her husband usually help him every evening. Well one night, she was helping him and decided she couldn't figure out the assignment, so she goes to their room and asked her husband Rick to help out. He comes back no less than two minutes later and says he gave up on that assignment yesterday! She figures its pretty pathetic when two adults aren't smarter than a 5th grader with ADHD!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kids Say Again

Some more cute kid sayings............from the web.
*****************************************************************
My young granddaughter Marylyn was asked to complete this sentence on a history test: The Declaration of Independence was chiefly written by ________." Marylyn's astute answer: "candlelight."
**********************************
Our 3-year-old son, Jordan, decided to be Moses for our Fall Festival (a Halloween alternative). My mom made the costume, and Jordan certainly looked the part. I asked him, "What did Moses say to Pharaoh?" Jordan replied confidently, "Let my pickle go!"
**********************************
When the Sunday school teacher said "God made everything," my 6-year-old son, Davey, begged to differ. "God didn't make everything," he said, "Most things are made in China."
**********************************
I was talking with my 4-year-old daughter, Ellie, about words that rhyme. "What rhymes with floor?" I asked. "Door, more, and sore," she said. "Good! What are some more?" "Bear, chair and stair." "Great! What else?" "Worm and butterfly." "Those don't rhyme," I said. But Ellie had it all thought out. "They are both beautiful to look at, so they rhyme in my eyes."
*********************************
And one from Kersten(remember, she is three):
When asked why she pooped in her pants? "I don't want to talk about it right now."

Well this week I was reading something and came across this sticker and come to find out, it was Glenn Beck's idea. I enjoy watching him.

Anyway, enjoy this!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kersten

Kids are forever trying to get out of doing their chores, but at three, Kersten is normally willing to oblige most things you ask. Not so much the case these days!!

Story from Laurie to me:
The other day Kersten found a bug on the carpet and wanted me to pick it up, so I did. Then she said the other piece was in a different spot. So I told her that I would vacuum it, but she had to pick up her toys. She did, then I told her to pick up her toys in the living room so I could vacuum in there too. She said, "No. That's OK mommy. You don't need to vacuum in there. I don't want to pick up my toys. It will be OK."
*************************
In other funniness, Kersten loves to be outside, but can't go out by herself, Samantha, Cody, Joey or Mom or Dad has to watch her. The other day she wanted to go out really bad and Mommy and Mamie were busy cooking and baking. Daddy was golfing. Cody was the only older kid home, but he was sleeping. She didn't care, she opens the door to the basement and as loud as she could, yelled his name, repeatedly, until he finally responded. It was soooo funny. And Cody, being the thoroughly doting big brother, obliged her even though he was napping. She has him wrapped around her finger! She was determined to go outside and outside she went!
************************
So Laurie, Kersten and I went shopping Saturday. We needed stuff from Walmart and we also went to the Produce Market. Kersten is such a dolly, I love spending time with her and although she loves her brother Jess, having Mommy and Mamie to herself is a good time for her. We had just left the Produce Market. Mommy had taken her potty while we were there, but we weren't more than five blocks away when she announced she needed to go potty and poop. I told her we were going to the Dollar Store and she could go there. She goes, "ok, but hurry!" I told her to squeeze her "cheeks". I look back at her from the front seat and she has the biggest cheeky grin possible on her face! Oh to be so innocent! She had no idea what I meant, but tried to please me anyway! And then she asked, "why do I have to squeeze my cheeks?" I lost it, I was laughing so hard, I nearly peed my pants!
************************
One more funny about Kersten for this week. Mommy found out a ballet studio opened up in Lewiston this summer and she has been wanting to sign Kersten up for awhile, so it was handy that one opened so close to home. Kersten shows pretty good dance skills, so Mommy figures we'll see how she does. Ballet starts on Monday and the entire time Mommy has been talking to her about going to ballet, she has told Kersten that unless she is potty trained all the way, she can't go, it is a class rule. Well, Kersten does just fine going potty in the potty, but as previously mentioned, poopy has been a big problem. Well, this week Mommy reminded her again about the "rule" and would you believe the kid is going poopy in the potty this week!? She has been so stubborn about it, I can't believe it took this ballet class to motivate her. Nothing else has worked thus far.

Silly girl!! I love you and am proud that you are a big girl now!!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Joey

So we were sitting at the table having breakfast the other day. We were discussing with Kersten how eating the rinds off of an orange is yucky and we shouldn't eat them. And then I said but some people eat watermelon rind, they pickle it. Fred then pipes up to say, watermelon rind is known to be an aphrodesiac. Joey(the 15-year-old) looks at Fred with a puzzled look on his face and says "Is that like accupuncture?"
As Laurie, Fred and I all burst into gales of laughter, Joey is standing there with a "what did I say?" look on his face.
I told Fred we had to buy the kid a dictionary.

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kids Say.......

Some cute kids have an interesting perspective on God and life sometimes. Stories from an email I got.

In a special service for preschoolers, our pastor talked about heaven. At the end, he asked, "Where do you want to go?" "Heaven!" they all shouted. "And what do you have to be to get to heaven?" Without hesitation, a chorus of little voices yelled, "Dead!"
***********************************
One day I heard my son Kyle, 3, singing along with a song about John 3:16. I was heartened that Gor's Word was soaking into his hear and mind, then I realized what he was singing' That whoever believes in Jesus "will never die, but happy turtle life!"
***********************************
Telling the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, a teacher said, "lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city. Lot got away safely, but his wife looked back and turned into a pillar of salt." When she asked if hte children had any questions, one young boy asked, "What happened to the flea?"
***********************************
Two little boys and their mother sat in a pew in front of me one Sunday. THe older boy squirmed continually, clearly bored by the sermon. He nudged his little brother and whispered loudly, "I wish we were watching TV, 'cause then I could change the channel!"
***********************************
When my friend's 4-year-old son, Derek, became frightened during a thunderstorm, she told him it was God bowling in heaven. Excitedly, he asked, "Does he ever bowl where we do?"
***********************************
A friend teaching the 7th grade Bible class at a Christian school told her students that Adam and Eve weren't the first ones who chose to sin. She asked her students, "Who was Satan before he fell?" Savannah's hand shot up. "I know his name! He was Ludicrous!"
***********************************
When a friend asked her 4-year-old daughter to fetch a can of soup from the pantry, she replied, "But it's dark and scary in there!" "You don't have to be afraid," came her mother's calm reply. "Jesus is always with you, even in the pantry. "The girl thought for a moment, walked over to the pantry, stuck her head in the door, and called, "Jesus, if you're in there, can you hand me a can of soup?"
***********************************
Our 6-year-old daughter went to Bible School at a sister church, and while telling us about it, she referred to the pastor by his first name. I corrected her, saying she needed to call him Pastor Chris because he's a pastor just like Daddy, Pastor John, Pastor Mark, and Pastor Glen.
"Do you know what 'pastor' means?" I asked. She considered the question and then said, very tentatively, "I'm not sure, but I think it means goofy."

***********************************
When we introduced our daughter to the pastor for the first time, he said, "Thank you for visiting, Danielle. I hope to see more of you soon." Danielle looked puzzled and replied, "But this is all there is of me!"

Tuesday Funnies ~ Holy Humor

A father was approached by his small son who told him proudly, 'I know what the Bible means!'
His father smiled and replied, 'What do you mean, you 'know' what the Bible means?
The son replied, 'I do know!'
'Okay,' said his father. 'What does the Bible mean?'
'That's easy, Daddy...' the young boy replied excitedly,' It stands for
'Basic Information Before Leaving Earth.'
=======
There was a very gracious lady who was mailing an old family Bible to her brother in another part of the country.
'Is there anything breakable in here?' asked the postal clerk.
'Only the Ten Commandments.' answered the lady.
========
A minister parked his car in a no-parking zone in a large city because he was short of time and couldn't find a space with a meter. Then he put a note under the windshield wiper that read: 'I have circled the block 10 times. If I don't park here, I'll miss my appointment. Forgive us our trespasses.'
When he returned, he found a citation from a police officer along with this note 'I've circled this block for 10 years. If I don't give you a ticket I'll lose my job. Lead us not into temptation.'
========
While driving in Pennsylvania, a family caught up to an Amish carriage. The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand printed sign... 'Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust.'
========
A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, 'Boys and girls, what do we know about God?'
A hand shot up in the air. 'He is an artist!' said the kindergarten boy.
'Really? How do you know?' the teacher asked.
'You know - Our Father, who does art in Heaven... '
========
A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long holiday weekend. The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him. Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.
'Reverend,' said the young man, 'I'm so sorry about the delay. It seems as if everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip.'
The minister chuckled, 'I know what you mean. It's the same in my business.'
========
People want the front of the bus, the back of the church, and the center of attention.
========
Sunday after church, a Mom asked her very young daughter what the lesson was about.
The daughter answered, 'Don't be scared, you'll get your quilt.'
Needless to say, the Mom was perplexed. Later in the day, the pastor stopped by for tea and the Mom asked him what that morning's Sunday school lesson was about.
He said 'Be not afraid, thy comforter is coming.'
========
The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute. The substitute wanted to know what to play.
'Here's a copy of the service,' he said impatiently. 'But, you'll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances.'
During the service, the minister paused and said, 'Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up.'
At that moment, the substitute organist played 'The Star Spangled Banner.'

Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the grace to see a joke,
To get some humor out of life,
And pass it on to other folk

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kersten once again!

Well on Sunday, Kersten, Jess, Mommy and Mamie took Josh to camp. It was about an hour long drive and both the babies should have been tired and taken a nap, alas, they did not. So Kersten kept asking to sing songs, so we would sing for awhile and then be quiet. Sing some more, be quiet some more.
We got to camp and instead of the quick checkin we were hoping for, we were stuck there two hours! ARGH! Try entertaining a baby and a toddler for that long with no toys or swing set!
So on the way home, Kersten wanted to sing some more and she was insistent on singing the Zaccheus song. I sang it with her three times and told her we needed to switch to a different song. She didn't like that idea and started singing it herself "Zaccheus was a weak man, a weak man was he! He climbed up in a singing tree for the Lord he wanted to see!...........".
She did the rest of it pretty good, but oh goodness, Mommy and Mamie were just a cracking up! No matter how many times we annunciated the words and corrected her, it kept coming out that same way! Technically, she was right, Zaccheus was a weak man until Jesus came along!
What a lesson to get from a three year old?!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Tyson

Well, I thought I'd share a funny story related to a girl I work with, Tracy. Her son Tyson has a musculoskeletal disorder that affects his movement and thus he cannot walk. Tracy has to take him to doctor's appointments all the time as they are always trying to find something new to help Tyson be mobile. So she took him to Shriner's up in the cities the other day for his appointments and apparently there is a receptionist there that he has made a connection with.
Prior to their arrival at Shriners, Tracy and her friend were having a conversation about the receptionist and her friend asked if she was cute, Tracy said yeah, so the friend asked if she was smokin' hot? Tracy said, you'd probably think so.
So, can you guess what Ty said to the receptionist upon arrival?

You guessed it!

Michelle, you are smokin' hot!

Michelle laughed, Tracy turned red, and Ty was proud of himself.
Can you believe at three he is the biggest flirt??
Watch out ladies! Ty is on the prowl!

Tuesday Funnies ~ 4th of July/Jess

I am grounded again. Mama said so.

Ok, lets back up the story a bit:
The weekend of 4th of July was spent with the Peaslee's. My parents couldn't make it up here for the holiday and none of the rest of the family was going to be at Grama's, so I decided to stick close to home and spent it with "my other family." So the whole weekend was mostly lazy, although we did some projects that kept us busy around the house.
Friday we had a big breakfast and then went school clothes shopping for Samantha and Cadi. In the afternoon, we worked on our food contributions and spent the evening at the Cranor's fellowshipping with about a third of the church! The Cranors just got into their new house and it was a good thing its big, there were a ton of people around. We had a good time.

Satuday again we had a big breakfast and then leftovers for lunch in preparation for a big ham dinner. I also made two batches of homemade ice cream. Have never done this before and learned a few things along the way. It tasted magnificent by the way! MMMMMM!! The ham dinner was awesome and complimented by cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs, green bean casserole and rolls. Laurie made lemonade from scratch as well.

Sunday our church was scheduled for an all church outdoor service, so since we didn't have life group responsibilities, we decided we'd go visit LifeChurch in Rochester. Our former associate pastor is the leader there and some of our families went with to build the ministry. IT WAS AWESOME to see how many people have joined already. The room was pretty full on Sunday, granted nine Peaslees, myself and the Bunke clan aren't regulars, but there was still a bunch of people there that weren't Winona transplants. It is awesome to see God blessing Pastor Doug and his outreach because it was definitely a faith thing. No building, no money, no congregants. God is awesome.

After church, we stopped by my house where the boys mowed my lawn. It had been at least three weeks and it was sort of Amazonish, so I am greatful they did that, and in the crazy humidity to boot! After that, Cody treated us all to lunch at Wendy's and then we headed for home. The plan was for the babies, the mommy and the Aimee to take a nap, well, I ended up not being tired, Kersten wasn't either and Jess screamed for nearly an hour, so I finally went and got him. Was trying to sneak out of the house quietly as mommy had a headache, but, she ended up awake anyway. We had tacos for dinner and just vegged in front of the TV the rest of the evening.

So to the funny part, Jess. Oh the kid is so adorable with his bright blue eyes and he can smile and melt your heart! And he is finally confident walking on his own now, so cute! Well, for this weekend, he decided I was his buddy more than mommy. He'd follow me all over the house and if I didn't stop and pick him up, he'd get mad and cry. On Sunday, he was tired about the time church started, but you know how kids fight. Well at one point he jumped from mommy's arms to mine and he snuggled in like for a hug and I was eating it up. He stayed in that position for awhile just rubbing my arm and then fell asleep. He slept on me for pretty much the rest of church. Mommy says he never snuggles with her, so I was grounded. Then that evening as I was preparing to go home he was my shadow as I was gathering all my stuff up. I picked him up and carried him to mommy and said goodbye. He started crying and trying to crawl down mommy and walked back into the kitchen as I was loading my arms up, so I carried him back to mommy again and he was not happy I was leaving.

Makes you feel loved!! Mommy said I was grounded again cause her kid wanted to come home with me. I told her she would always win because she has what he really wants. The ability to nurse him! He is intent on not giving that up. It is down to bedtime only, but he won't give that up for nothing. Laurie is going to have to leave for a week or two for that to happen, cause if he knows she is around, he is not going to relent. He is a smart cookie!

Oh sweet baby boy! God I love this kid!

Tuesday Funnies ~ more Kersten

Well, a couple of weeks ago Fred was putting Kersten down for the night. He tucked her in and said her prayers with her. He finished with Amen as usual and Kersten pipes up "Daddy, I want a baby sister!". Fred looks at her and tells her that it is up to God if we have a baby sister. So then he asks her if she knows who God is and she says "Jesus!" and Fred says she is close, but who is Jesus' dad and she says "God!". So she gets it. So they amend their prayer and add to it "Dear Lord, please send me a baby sister, Amen." Two seconds later Kersten says "Daddy, I think He heard me!".
Is she not the cutest!!!
So the next night, Mommy is putting her down for the night and Kersten tells mommy she is going to say the prayer. She of course includes the request for a baby sister. Again, after they are doing praying she says "Mommy, He heard me!".
Out of the mouthes of babes!
Oh to have faith like a child!
She continues to add this to her prayers every night.

Dear Lord, if it is your will for the Peaslee clan to have a baby sister, please bless then appropriately. If not, we are thankful for the blessings you have already given them. Amen!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Jess

Jess is almost 14 months now and I think he thinks he is two. He kinda skipped a year and went straight to the terrible twos, cause boy, can that kid through a tantrum! It is hillarious! If he gets mad or doesn't get what he wants, he stomps his feet and throws himself around. He'll sit three rooms away from you and just scream because you didn't pick him up on your way to wherever you were going. Not sure who taught him these actions as he doesn't go to daycare and noone in the house is as much of an actor as he is!
I do love that he is finally not so stuck on his mama. For awhile there, she was the only person he wanted, nobody else was good enough. He is mostly getting away from that and there have been a few times he chose me over her even. Mama said I was grounded cause he called me "mama". I didn't instigate it, so not sure how that is my fault. I love to hold him and snuggle(if you can call it that) with him. He never sits still for very long though.
I find it amusing that almost all of my "kids" when they are little call me Mamie. I think its the natural progression from Mama to Mamie that makes it easier for them. He does say "Mamie" now and I am sure to correct him if he is saying "mama".
Something else fun about Jess is his love of the outdoors. I don't know if he felt as cooped up as the rest of us over the long winter and much anticipated spring we never really got, but he LOVES to be outside and if you go without him, he throws a tantrum and beats on the door. His sister Kersten loves to be outside too. Mom & Dad bought them a swing set/jungle gym apparatus about a month ago and they both could play on it all day. It is probably the best money they have ever spent! They both love to swing, but Jess is still in a baby swing due to his age, so he gets buckled in. When you swing him, if you get close to him and let him "think" he kicked you or if you say boo or try to tickle his feet, he giggles uncontrollably. He has the best laugh, I could listen to it all day. And when he figured how to climb the ladder and go down the slide himself, the smile on his face at the bottom was priceless! He was so proud of himself! He can do it over and over and not get tired.
Still hard to think he is already one, but he is definitely working on two. He can walk by himself now, but is still sort of in the drunken falling down phase and very wobbily. Its cute, but we encourage him all the time to keep going. I am sure he'll be running in no time!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kersten again

Kersten is at a really fun age. She'll be three in two weeks and she is just too smart! Potty training has been in full swing for a little over a month now and most days(and nights), she does really good about staying dry, however when it comes to #2, that is another story. It does not matter what we bribe her with or if we punish her(time out), she has no desire to poop in the potty.
We keep telling her that only babies go in their pants, big girls go potty and poopy in the toilet and we even have a book we read to her, which she has memorized by the way, every time we are in there. So this week, she got creative, she knows that Baby Jess is the baby, she isn't, BUT, she IS the baby sister of JoJo and Cody! So I guess to her, that means she still is a baby and its ok??
Oh boy, where do these kids come up with this stuff!

Tuesday Funnies ~ Kersten

I am going to start a new feature on my blog. I'll tell something funny hopefully every Tuesday, but we'll plan for most Tuesdays. Laughter is the best medicine! I hope you giggle too.

My niece Kersten is SO funny and WAY too smart some days. She'll be three June the 8th. Last week she learned a new song. What the song was and how she sang it was TOO funny. The song is "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!". Kersten's version?? "Lori, Lori, Hallelujah!" and then she looks at LoLo(whose real name is Lori) and her Mom(whose name is Laurie) and says, "Mommy, LoLo, that's your song!"

Lately, she has been picking up some of her older siblings' bad habits. For instance, when you ask her something or ask her to do something, instead of doing or answering like she normally would, she looks at you and says "Huh?". She has learned that if she pretends she doesn't hear what you said, she might not have to do it. So her Mom started saying for her birthday, she was getting her hearing aids. So now, anytime you ask her what is Mommy getting you for your birthday, she'll say "hearing aids". Well, that kind of backfired on Mommy the other day. She asked Mommy a question and Mommy answered with a "Huh?", simply because she didn't quite catch the whole question. Kersten comes back with "Mommy, you get hearing aids too, I get little ones and you get BIG ones!"

A few months ago, Mommy & Daddy and Cody had a Christmas party to go to for work, so Kersten, her baby brother Jess and the two older girls, Samanatha and Cadi came to my house. I had to work until 5, so it just worked out better for them to drop them off with me and we switched vehicles so I would have the car seats. When they got there, the weather and roads were just fine. The plan was that I would feed them and then I would head back to their house to put them to bed in their own beds instead of mommy and daddy having to wake them. So, after we got dinner served and cleaned up, I started to get everything together and load up the van. It had started to snow by now, big fluffy flakes of snow were coming down heavily! I love when we get that kind of snow, its perfect for building a snowman or having a snoball fight! Anyway, I get everybody loaded and start the normally 45 minute trip to their house. Now, having grown up in Wisconsin and living in Minnesota nearly ten years, the snow and ice RARELY phase me. I know I need to leave more space inbetween cars and give myself extra time to stop, but otherwise, for the most part, you should be able to drive normally. Well, apparently there are many who never ever understand this concept, so its inevitable that you are going to come upon some idiot who is the cause of most crashes in this kind of weather. So, me, not being afraid of the roads, carefully check for oncoming traffic and proceed to pass. While doing so, I look at the other car and say "IDIOT!". Kersten pipes up in the back and says "Yidiot!". I crack up laughing. The rest of the way home, I didn't say anything while passing the rest of the idiots, but she called it out to every single one! It is not the worst word a two year old could pick up, but its not great either. So like a week later, I show up at their house before church so we can all ride together and apparently, seeing me triggers Kersten's memory. Every time Daddy passed a car, she'd yell "Yidiot!". Her Mom couldn't figure out where on earth she got that from. I had to confess! Its funny still and she still does it anytime I am with her and we are going somewhere and we pass a car.

I am so thankful for my beautiful Kersten, she really makes my day whenever I see her. She is always excited to see me and runs to hug me or snuggle with me. I hope this continues for a long time, but I know its inevitable that she'll grow up way too fast.
